Description

Manual Diagnostics and treatment of the jaw joint and oral muscles. It demonstrates and emphasizes the jaw joints impact on neck posturing and stability as well as the oral muscles on chewing and speech. It is applicable for children who have difficulty stabilizing their neck to attend to the board and in adult pain syndromes related to screen and computer use. It will also be valuable to therapists who treat those who have chewing/swallowing issues or speech issues resulting from the oral muscles.    

 

Suzanne Joseph, PT, DPT   shares her knowledge and expertise on "TMJ Evaluation & Management in Physical Therapy".

  

 What to expect:

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand sensory input of the oral cavity and how this impacts spinal posturing.
  • Understand the anatomy & bio-mechanics of the temporomandibular joint.
  • Learn to assess dysfunctions, compute results, and choose specific treatment techniques for the temporomandibular joint.
  • Be able to assess & describe pre- and post-treatment responses for use in standard Physical Therapy documentation.
  • Learn adjunctive physical therapy techniques, home pain-management instructions to create a comprehensive program. 


About the Speaker(s):  

Dr. Suzanne Joseph, PT, DPT has spent over 40 years as a physical therapist pioneering the profession toward manual diagnostics and treatment. She was the first Integrative Manual Therapist in the Midwest United States. Her education includes a Doctorate in Physical Therapy, certifications in Integrative Manual Therapy, Women’s Health, Manual Therapy and Autism.

She has taught nationally and internationally for Northeast Seminars, Connecticut School of Integrative Manual Therapy and Munich Seminars.

 

Suzanne was a Master Instructor for the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary. She educated the Coast Guard personnel in techniques used in Search and Rescue missions. She volunteers her time to teach seniors Fall Prevention and special-needs parents’ manual therapies for health and wellness.

 

How to earn CE:
