Social media means any facility for online publication and commentary, including without limitation blogs, wiki’s, and social networking sites such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Flickr, and YouTube. These guidelines are in addition to and complement any existing or future policies regarding the use of technology, computers, e-mail and the internet. Members following these guidelines must also abide by the APTA Position Standards of Conduct in the use of Social Media HOD P06-12-17-16.

The State of Illinois provides opportunities for citizens to serve on appointed state boards, committees,commissions and task forces (the term committee will be used to refer to all groups) that represent various interests and initiatives for the State. These groups provide oversight and advise Illinois officials, agencies and organizations on a wide range of issues that affect the public’s welfare. These committees also play a vital role in promoting efficient, effective and honest government. The IPTA encourages service committees and advocates for physical therapists to be included on committees in matters pertaining to the PT profession or the health of the people of Illinois.

The purpose of the conflict-of-interest policy is to protect the Illinois Physical Therapy Association's interest when it is contemplating entering into a transaction or arrangement that might benefit the private interest of an officer or director of the organization or might result in a possible excess benefit transaction. This policy is intended to supplement but not replace any applicable state and federal laws governing conflict of interest applicable to nonprofit and charitable organizations.

The Code of Ethics adopted by the Illinois Physical Therapy Association (IPTA) requires all staff, board members, and volunteers to observe high standards of business and personal ethics in the conduct of their duties and responsibilities.
