The IPTA is has THREE opportunities for you to attend an IPTA sponsored CE course this fall on
"Neurologic Foundations: Assessments", with speaker Dr. Suzanne Joseph, PT, DPT.

Description: This course is for all PTs and PTAs. It will help identify the primary dysfunction in the multi-involved patient. Based on manual diagnostics and treatments, learn the assessment techniques to demonstrate the impact of the eyes, ears, and oral cavity on the postural presentation, strength and movement. Based on these diagnostics, the instructor will emphasize the role of rehab in building a multi-disciplinary medical team.

Manual Techniques for neuro-modulation will be presented that impact pain and mobility, fascial restrictions, facilitated neural segments and upright presentation of posture. 

Objectives: At the completion of this program participants will be able to:

  • Understand the spinal reflex arc as foundation for desired treatment techniques.
  • Assess the postural changes in the spine and shoulder girdles from intervention in neurologically-intense input regions of the neutral plexus, eyes, ears, oral cavity.
  • Assess the impact of orthotics, bite splints, and glasses on postural presentation, fascial restrictions, pain & mobility.
  • Choose the right technique from the pictured syllabus provided based on learned assessment techniques.

This 6 hour CE course will be both classroom and hands on practice lab. Handouts will be provided which include a manual of evaluation and treatment techniques complete with pictures for the participants.

Dress code: No denim, no sports bras, sweats and leggings are ok

Attendees can also look forward to participating in a lunchtime Town Hall meeting lead by a panel of district leaders who will present updates on current initiatives and listen to member input.

About the Speaker:

Dr. Suzanne Joseph, PT, DPT   has spent over 40 years as a physical therapist pioneering the profession toward manual diagnostics and treatment. She was the first Integrative Manual Therapist in the Midwest United States. Her education includes a Doctorate in Physical Therapy, certifications in Integrative Manual Therapy, Women’s Health, Manual Therapy and Autism.

She has taught nationally and internationally for Northeast Seminars, Connecticut School of Integrative Manual Therapy and Munich Seminars.

Suzanne was a Master Instructor for the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary. She educated the Coast Guard personnel in techniques used in search and rescue missions. She volunteers her time to teach seniors fall prevention and special-needs parents’ manual therapies for health and wellness.
