Western District Election: Slated Positions

2 year term (2019-2020)

The District vice chair is responsible for assuming the duties of the chair when that person is unable to fulfill duties or a specific duty (i.e. attending a specific meeting or event). The vice chair maintains the District Rules of Order so they are in compliance with the Chapter Bylaws and coordinate the location for District meetings and communicates with the Chapter office.

Qualifications: Physical Therapist, Retired Physical Therapist, or Life Physical Therapist Member in good standing for at least 2 years preceding taking office, (i.e. be a member of the IPTA since January 1, 2017)..


2 year term (2019-2020)

As District delegate, travel to the APTA’s Annual House of Delegates meeting in June of each year is required. In addition, District delegates participate in pre and post Illinois Delegation meetings and district meetings. The Illinois Delegation represents our Chapter at the national level, debating and voting on issues impacting the future of the physical therapy profession.

*Alternate Delegates, if needed, shall be selected from the pool of candidates remaining in the order of number of votes received after the election of the District delegate.

Qualifications: The district delegate must be a PT, Life PT, or Retired PT member in good standing for at least 2 years preceding election, a current District member (as of September 1st of election year), meets all requirements specified in the APTA Bylaws, and consents to serve.


3 year term (2019-2021)

One member should be elected each year for a three year term.
The responsibilities of committee members include soliciting nominations; contacting nominees for consent to serve; and attempt to secure at least two candidates for each open position for District elections. They also promote the Association, Chapter , and District leadership opportunities and professional development activities to the District members, and communication with the Chapter Nominating Committee on a regular basis.

Qualifications: PT, Life PT, PTA, or Life PTA member of the IPTA and in good standing.


PT REPRESENTATIVES: (will need to elect at least 6 PT Representatives) 2 year term (2019-2020)

The Assembly of Representatives is the IPTA’s largest body of governance and directs the future of the IPTA in its consideration of rules, policy, and priorities.

The two year term of PT Assembly Representative involves attending the annual Chapter Assembly and representing District PT members in the conduct of the Assembly business. District representatives participate in pre-Assembly conference calls and facilitate discussions at the District level to develop ideas about business that could be debated at the Assembly, and report the Assembly outcomes to the District.

Qualifications: Physical Therapist, Retired Physical Therapist, or Life Physical Therapist Member in good standing. Be a DISTRICT member as of September 1 of the year of election.
