Executive Committee Positions

Sarah Jensen, PT, MPT, DSc, COMT

"I am honored to be nominated for a second term as the Vice President of the Illinois Physical Therapy Association and the President of the Illinois Physical Therapy Foundation (IPTF).

New to the role last year, 2017 was a very busy but exciting and successful year for the IPTF. I am proud to say that with the help of many people, the IPTF Board met its strategic goals. Some of the goals included appointing 5 new IPTF board members,
completing the IPTF website ( - launched July 2017) and expanding our social media presence to promote the physical therapy profession with the public as well as physical therapy clinicians. Other accomplishments include:

- Recipient of a $4400 grant from the NACDD to implement the Arthritis Foundation’s Walk With Ease program. We have 8 clinics from around the state committed to the program. This program helps raise awareness of the physical therapy profession and promotes health and wellness with the public.

- Increased donations to the IPTF over the past year. All donations to the IPTF are now used to fund Illinois PT research and raise awareness of the IPTF and the physical therapy profession with our members and the public. Other fundraising initiatives included partnering with Amazon Smile and participating in #Giving Tuesday on November 28 which raised over $3,000. These extra funds went toward funding a second research study - one more then we were able to approve in past years. It makes me proud of our profession to see such great submissions and to witness the applicants dedication and commitment to excellence and moving the physical therapy profession forward!

- Offering a variety of research webinars for the PT community. Our ‘Spotlight on Research’ series continues to be well received and completed 9 webinars in 2017. We plan to run up to 9 more in 2018. These research webinars showcase our profession's best and brightest and provide valuable information for our PT community as well as inspire us all to always search for the best answers for our patients.

I am excited about the continued growth and value the IPTF can provide to the public as well as the PT community. If elected, I look forward to continuing to make a positive impact on the physical therapy profession through the IPTF and IPTA with this unique and challenging service opportunity."

Jeffrey Damaschke, PT, DPT, PhD, OCS

"It is an honor and a pleasure to be nominated to serve as the IPTA Secretary. In the past, I have served in a variety of positions within the IPTA and I have always enjoyed serving the members of this association. After serving as the IPTA Vice President from 2011 to 2013, I decreased my IPTA responsibilities to pursue my PhD degree. However, I still continued to serve in less time demanding positions. I completed my PhD degree in 2016 and I now feel it is time to step up my responsibilities to the IPTA if I were elected to the position of Secretary.

I have served as Secretary in a variety of different boards and organizations in the past and I consider myself to have the leadership, time management, communication and organizational skills to serve as an exceptional Secretary for the IPTA. Having served on the board previously, I understand the responsibilities and will do my best to serve the IPTA's Board of Directors, Illinois Physical Therapy Foundation and the Speaker and members of the Assembly of Representatives. Thank you again for the honor of being nominated for this position."

Christina Frank, PT, MBA

"I've been an active member of the IPTA for the last 15 years and feel a responsibility to our profession to be involved. I’ve held many different positions at the district and state levels, but most recently as a member of the finance committee and as current Treasurer. I have a business background (MBA) and have been working with budgets related to healthcare for ~ 20 years as a leader in a hospital system. I enjoy numbers and excel at managing budgets, which is a strength for me. This broad range of work and IPTA experience has prepared me to be a member of the Executive Committee and as your Treasurer. As a profession, we have a lot at stake and require strong leadership to guide the association into the future. I take this position and nomination very seriously and hope to have your support to continue in this role of Treasurer."

Other Chapter Positions

Brianna DeBiasi, PT, DPT, OCS

"I became a member of the IPTA in 2012; my first year of PT school. Since that time, I have transitioned into the role of Early Career Liaison Physical Therapist to the Board as well as a member of the Nominating Committee for the Eastern District. I continually find encouragement and rejuvenation in being an active member of this chapter. As I continue to find myself professionally, my time in the IPTA continues to mold my practice. As a Nominating Committee member, I will continue the work done before me to advance our profession not only in the state of Illinois, but across the country."

Please note: The Delegates at Large are listed in order starting with the TOP SIX candidates who received the most votes. The number of Delegates at Large are determined by apportionment by the APTA. Illinois' at large delegates will be determined by the July 2018 total IPTA membership. Alternate Delegates, if needed, shall be selected from the pool of candidates remaining in the number of votes received after the election of the District delegate.
