The Illinois Physical Therapy Association gives several awards that recognize the efforts of clinicians, educators and leaders toward the advancement of the physical therapy profession.



Peter McMenamin, PT
Babette Sanders Leadership & Service Award

This award recognizes a physical therapist who has demonstrated over time an exceptional level of support and dedication to physical therapy through his or her support and/or roles in the national (including Sections) and/or state association.

Peter McMenamin, PT received the 2013 Babette Sanders Leadership and Service Award in recognition of his long and dedicated commitment to the profession of physical therapy and the Illinois Physical Therapy Association. Peter's long standing commitment to the Illinois Physical Therapy Association is exemplary. This commitment was visible throughout the many vital roles Peter held with the Illinois Physical Therapy Association, including President. Peter also continues to advocate for the physical therapy profession and is a role model to other therapists for his willingness to support them in every way.  
Ricardo Fernandez, PT, Phd, OCS, CSCS
Physical Therapist of the Year

This award is presented to a physical therapist who has demonstrated over time an exceptional level of support and dedication to physical therapy through his or her support and/or roles in the national (including Sections) and/or state association.

Ricardo Fernandez, PT, Phd, OCS, CSCS received the 2013 Physical Therapist of the Year Award in recognition of his deep concern for the profession of physical therapy and his exceptional personal responsibility as a physical therapist.  Ricardo brings strong evidence to his treatment models and eagerly shares his enthusiasm for the profession with patients, students and other therapists.  Ricardo has also been a presenter at various IPTA and APTA events as well as having served on the Physical Therapy Licensing and Disciplinary Board.       
  
Nancy Tow, PT, MBA, FAAOMPT
Clinical Educator of the Year


This award recognizes a clinical educator of physical therapy who has who consistently demonstrated significant contributions to the quality of clinical education.


Nancy Tow, PT, MBA, FAAOMPT received the 2013 Clinical Educator of the Year Award in recognition of her outstanding patient care skills and leadership abilities. Nancy has a superior ability to share her knowledge with patients and students that betters the patient as well as fully prepares her students for the profession of physical therapy. Nancy is truly a role model for the Doctor of Physical Therapy and post professional students that she trains each year. 

Emily Pisani, SPT
Physical Therapy Student of the Year


This award recognizes a Physical Therapy student who exhibits superior scholastic ability and potential as future professional.


Emily Pisani, SPT received the 2013 Physical Therapy Student of the Year Award in recognition of her excellent achievements in all aspects of the physical therapy curriculum at Bradley University. Emily's accomplishments include receiving the President's Award during the Graduate Student Research Exposition of 2012 for her project on the support needs for ambulatory children with cerebral palsy. Emily has also presented posters at various IPTA and APTA events. Even prior to graduating from Bradley University Emily has made great contributions to the profession of physical therapy.
