IMPORTANT UPDATE FOR CENTRAL DISTRICT MEMBERS

Attention Central District members!

As a follow up to our district consolidation petition, the Board of Directors has voted to accept our petition to dissolve the Central District effective April 1st, 2022.

Why? Back in October 2021, your district leaders sought input from Central members on
the idea of dissolving so that members could be reassigned to neighboring districts.

Over the years, the Central District has had low participation at meetings, difficulty finding candidates for elections, and current has a vacancy in the Central District Chair position.

It is important to note that we are not alone in these challenges: other districts have also struggled with finding new leaders and the IPTA Board of Directors is encouraging members of the 2022 Assembly to consider how we can restructure our organization to better fit the changing needs of our current and future members.

In the meantime, the dissolution of the Central District on April 1st means that:

All elected Assembly Reps serving in 2022, will still be considered a voting member of the Central District for the upcoming March 5th Assembly of Representatives.

Our Central District Delegate, Heidi Tippner Morris, PT, will still participate in APTA’s 2022 House of Delegates Meeting, but as an At-Large Delegate for the remainder of the term, which expires
    December 31, 2022.

All elected District leaders (District Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary/ Treasurer, Nominating Committee members, and Representatives completing their term in 2023) will be released from their responsibilities
effective April 1, 2022 and all records and materials for the Central District will be returned to the Chapter office by June 1, 2022.

Chapter and District call for nominations begin March 1st – and all Central members will be eligible to run for a position (and vote) in their newly assigned District elections.
