Illinois PT License Renewal Due September 30, 2026: What You Need to Know

Illinois physical therapist licenses expire on September 30, 2026. While the deadline may seem far away, now is the time to review your continuing education records and ensure you will meet all renewal requirements.

To renew an Illinois physical therapist license, licensees must complete the required continuing education (CE) during the current renewal cycle and submit their renewal through the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) when the renewal period opens.

PTs will be able to renew 3 months prior to the expiration date shown on your license. If you don't know your expiration date, you may find it by using the IDFPR License Lookup application. Make sure your contact information (including email address) is up to date with IDFPR, as they no longer send out paper renewal notices. Included in the renewal notice should be information that covers renewing your license through the new IDFPR Comprehensive Online Regulatory Envioronment (CORE) licensing system, or through the old Online Services Portal.

New Graduates: Please make sure the IDFPR has your current email address, as many first time applicants use their school email address and then lose access to that email account a year or so later.

Continuing Education Requirements

Illinois physical therapists are required to complete 40 hours of continuing education during each two-year renewal cycle. The current renewal cycle covers CE completed between October 1, 2024, and September 30, 2026.

Required Every Renewal Cycle

The following content areas must be completed during each renewal period and count toward the required 40 CE hours:

3 hours of Ethics and Jurisprudence. IPTA's Ethics Committee has developed guidelines that will help you decide if a course will meet the ethics requirement. Learn more.
1 hour of Implicit Bias Awareness Training
1 hour of Sexual Harassment Prevention Training

Requirements Completed Less Frequently

Not all state-mandated training must be completed every renewal cycle. Illinois physical therapists must also complete:

1 hour of Cultural Competency Training — required once every six years
1 hour of Alzheimer's Disease and Other Dementias Training for healthcare professionals who provide services to adults age 26 and older — required once every six years

Licensees should maintain records documenting when these trainings were completed, as they may be needed to demonstrate compliance during future renewals or audits.

NEW Maternal Health Implicit Bias Requirement

Beginning July 1, 2026, Illinois healthcare professionals who provide maternal health care services and report doing so during license renewal must complete implicit bias training that includes education on maternal health disparities, maternal mortality, and risk factors affecting populations that experience disproportionate adverse maternal health outcomes.

For most physical therapists, the standard one-hour implicit bias training requirement remains unchanged. However, PTs who provide maternal health services should ensure their training meets the additional maternal health content requirements established by Illinois law.

Self-Study and Online Education

Illinois allows up to 75% of required CE hours to be completed through self-study activities, including approved online courses, recorded webinars, and other qualifying distance-learning formats.

This means that up to 30 of the required 40 CE hours may be completed through self-study. The remaining hours must be obtained through approved educational activities that meet Illinois requirements.

First-Time Renewals

Physical therapists renewing for the first time after initial licensure may qualify for exemptions from certain continuing education requirements. Licensees should carefully review IDFPR guidance to determine whether any exemptions apply to their individual circumstances.

Keep Your Documentation

Illinois licensees are responsible for maintaining proof of completed continuing education activities. Certificates of completion and supporting documentation should be retained in the event of an IDFPR audit.

Quick Renewal Checklist

Before September 30, 2026, PTs should make sure you have:

Completed at least 40 total CE hours
Completed 3 hours of Ethics and Jurisprudence
Completed 1 hour of Implicit Bias Awareness Training
Completed 1 hour of Sexual Harassment Prevention Training
Completed Cultural Competency Training within the last six years
Completed Alzheimer's Disease and Other Dementias Training within the last six years, if applicable to your practice
Completed maternal-health-focused implicit bias training if you provide maternal health care services
Retained documentation for all completed CE activities

Don't wait until the last minute. Review your CE transcript now and create a plan to complete any remaining requirements well before the September 30 renewal deadline.

How do I know if a course is/was approved for Illinois Physical Therapy CE?

All CE activities shall be relevant to the advancement, extension and enhancement of providing patient/client management, including but not limited to physical therapy examination, evaluation, intervention, and prevention and providing physical therapy services or fulfilling the other professional roles of a physical therapist or physical therapist assistant. Courses not acceptable for the purpose of this definition include, but are not limited to, personal estate planning, personal financial planning, personal investments, and personal health.

In Illinois, CE can only be awarded for courses offered by an approved sponsor of IL physical therapy continuing education credit (Rules, Section C.1); or by individual courses approved through the Illinois Physical Therapy Association. Unfortunately, Illinois does not have such reciprocity with approved CE courses from other states.

To look up if a company is an approved sponsor of CE: On IDFPR's website, there is a feature to look up any state license. Here is the link to do a "license look up" on IDFPR's website: https://online-dfpr.micropact.com/lookup/licenselookup.aspx. On the top of the page you will want to select "Physical Therapy" when doing the search. You can type in the name of the business, and if they are issued a license, in the description it will read "PHYSICAL THERAPY CONTINUING EDUCATION SPONSOR".

Per the Illinois Physical Therapy Practice Act, “credit shall not be given for courses taken in Illinois from unapproved sponsors”. A word of advice is before paying for any course in which you would like CE credit for, to double check with the sponsor to see if they have been approved for Physical Therapy CE credit in Illinois. You may also request from them the course approval # . You could reach out to the course sponsor and explain to them that you are interested in attending their course and ask if they have applied for this course to be accepted in Illinois for Physical Therapy CE approval. It is the CE sponsors responsibility to apply for CE credit, not the individual interested in taking the course. The CE sponsor would have to submit a CE application for the course to be approved.

If a course was offered in state, and was not approved for Physical Therapy CE credits, then it can not count towards your CE hours.

Can licensed CE Sponsors or other Components of APTA approve CE for credits in Illinois?

Short answer no, they can only offer their own CE. Illinois licensed CE Sponsors cannot "loan" their CE license to other organizations to use to apply to their programs, and only programs held by APTA and other components of APTA are approved for CE, not courses that components approve under their own state's requirements.

What if the course was offered out of state?

If the course was being offered OUT OF STATE, you can complete and submit to the IDFPR the “Out of State Continuing Education Approval Form” which can be found on IDFPR’s website here.

Please note that this application must be submitted prior to participation in the program or 90 days prior to expiration of the license. The Division or the Board shall review and recommend approval or disapproval of this program.

Not just in the classroom, CE may also be earned other ways:

Per the Rules, CE may also be earned from the following activities:

Teaching a course for an approved CE sponsor or a CAPTE accredited PT or PTA program. (2 CE hours for each 1 CE awarded to attendees)
Earning an initial American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS) Clinical Specialist Certification.
Completing an American Physical Therapy Association (APTA)-approved post-professional clinical residency or fellowship.
Professional research, writing, and/or editing.
Participation at departmental in-services at healthcare facilities or organizations.
Completion of skills certification courses (CPR, BLS, ACLS, PALS).
Being a Clinical Instructor.
Participation in Journal Clubs.
Volunteerism in Leadership. Serving on the Board of Directors, committee, or sub-committee of a chartered professional organization for physical therapists.

New IL License Renewal Requirement: Implicit Bias & Maternal Health in Minority Populations

A new Illinois license renewal requirement takes effect beginning July 1, 2026.

Under Illinois law, all licensed PTs and PTAs who are subject to continuing education requirements must complete at least one hour of training on implicit bias awareness during each license renewal period.

Additionally, beginning July 1, 2026, PTs and PTAs who provide prenatal or postnatal care and report to the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) that they provide maternal health care services must complete an implicit bias training course that includes education on maternal health risk factors associated with marginalized racial and ethnic populations experiencing higher maternal mortality rates.

Important Note: This is not an additional CE requirement. Illinois requires all PTs and PTAs to complete one hour of implicit bias training each renewal period. For providers who deliver prenatal or postnatal care, that one-hour course must include maternal health content.

Beware of Affiliate Marketing Programs — The Risk May Be Far Greater Than the Return

Healthcare providers are increasingly being targeted by companies offering affiliate marketing arrangements — programs that promise easy, passive income simply by recommending products to patients. The pitch is seductive: you’re already answering patients’ questions about which crutch, cane, brace, or boot to buy, so why not get paid for it? But before joining any such program, clinicians should understand that these arrangements carry significant legal, ethical, and professional risks that can far outweigh any financial reward.

The Anti-Kickback Statute: A Federal Risk

For any provider whose patients use Medicare, Medicaid, or other federal healthcare programs, affiliate marketing arrangements can implicate the federal Anti-Kickback Statute (AKS). This law prohibits receiving any form of remuneration — including commissions — in exchange for referrals of federally funded healthcare business. Recommending a specific product and receiving a per-sale payment looks, in the eyes of federal regulators, a great deal like a kickback, regardless of how the arrangement is branded or framed.

Violations of the AKS carry serious consequences, including substantial fines, exclusion from federal healthcare programs, and even criminal prosecution. The fact that an arrangement is called “affiliate marketing” rather than a referral fee does not insulate it from scrutiny.

State Licensing Board Rules and Ethics Codes

Beyond federal law, most state licensing boards for physical therapists, physicians, and other clinicians have established rules governing financial conflicts of interest in clinical recommendations. Many boards explicitly prohibit profiting from patient referrals to products or services — with or without disclosure. Even in states where disclosure may satisfy the requirement, the bar for full, meaningful disclosure is often higher than simply mentioning a commission exists.

Although the Illinois Practice Act does not specifically prohibit these types of arrangements, the physical therapist is responsible for any recommendations they make, and could be subject to discipline from the Illinois Physical Therapy Licensing and Disciplinary Board for any harm caused by the use of a product to which the therapist has financial ties.

National professional organizations reinforce this. The American Physical Therapy Association’s Code of Ethics cautions members against allowing financial incentives to influence clinical judgment or patient recommendations. Specifically, Standards of Practice 6.3 states “Physical therapists and physical therapist assistants shall disclose any conflicts of interest and not permit any conflicts of interest to interfere with professional judgments and decisions.”, and Standards of Practice 6.5 states “Physical therapists and physical therapist assistants shall fully disclose any financial interest they have in products or services that they recommend to patients and clients or to the public.” Similar guidance exists across virtually every clinical discipline.

Violations of any of the Standards of Practice in the American Physical Therapy Association’s (APTA) Code of Ethics could result in a formal complaint to the APTA Ethics and Judicial Committeee and, for Illinois licensees, to the IDFPR.

FTC Disclosure Requirements

Even setting aside healthcare-specific law, the Federal Trade Commission requires that anyone earning affiliate commissions disclose that financial relationship to the people receiving the recommendation. If a clinician recommends a product to a patient without clearly disclosing “I earn a commission if you purchase this,” they may be in violation of FTC guidelines — a separate layer of regulatory exposure that many providers overlook entirely.

The Conflict-of-Interest Problem

At the heart of every affiliate arrangement is a structural problem: once a clinician is being paid to recommend a specific product, the objectivity of that recommendation is compromised. Patients trust their providers to recommend what is best for their recovery — not what generates the highest commission. Even if the recommended product is genuinely excellent, the financial tie creates a conflict that can erode patient trust, invite regulatory scrutiny, and undermine the provider-patient relationship.

When Might It Be Permissible?

There is a narrow set of circumstances where affiliate arrangements carry lower — though never zero — legal risk. These include situations where:

The practice operates on a purely cash-pay basis with no Medicare, Medicaid, or federally insured patients.
The financial relationship is fully and explicitly disclosed to every patient before any recommendation is made.
State licensing board rules have been reviewed and the arrangement confirmed compliant.
A healthcare attorney has reviewed the arrangement and provided written guidance.

Even meeting all of these conditions does not eliminate risk entirely — it only reduces it.

What to Do If You Receive One of These Offers

If you are approached with an affiliate marketing opportunity, we recommend the following steps before signing up or sharing any links with patients:

Consult a healthcare attorney familiar with Anti-Kickback Statute compliance in your state.
Review the ethics guidance from your national professional association.
Contact your state licensing board to ask directly whether the arrangement complies with applicable rules.
Carefully consider whether the income potential truly justifies the professional, legal, and reputational exposure.

The companies behind these programs are skilled at making the arrangement sound straightforward and harmless. Phrases like “no minimum,” “free to join,” and “start earning this week” are designed to lower your guard. But the compliance landscape for healthcare providers is complex — and the cost of a misstep can include your license, your reputation, and your freedom.

When it comes to affiliate marketing in clinical practice, if an offer sounds too simple to have a downside, look closer. The risk is almost certainly there.

At the Illinois Physical Therapy Foundation’s PT ACCESS program, our mission is simple but powerful: all Illinois residents deserve access to quality physical therapy — regardless of insurance status or financial means. PT ACCESS connects uninsured, low-income patients with volunteer physical therapists and clinics willing to provide pro bono outpatient PT care through a structured referral system working with medical clinics across the state.

Why PT ACCESS Matters

Through this innovative partnership, medically vetted patients are referred directly from local free or low-cost health clinics into participating PT settings. As a volunteer provider, your clinic can choose how many patients you see — whether it’s one a month or one a year — and deliver care with the same professionalism and dedication you bring to every patient.

So far, the program pilot in DuPage County and expansion into Chicago has already made life-changing care possible — but we are only scratching the surface of the need.

Your Specialty = More Lives Changed

Right now, PT ACCESS is in desperate need of referral sites with clinicians who specialize in:

Pelvic Health Physical Therapy — helping patients with pelvic floor dysfunction, incontinence, chronic pelvic pain, pregnancy/postpartum recovery, and related conditions. Pelvic health therapists bring expertise that is often critically needed in underserved populations, yet hard for patients to access without cost barriers. Resources such as the APTA PT Locator™ highlight the importance and demand for clinicians in this field nationally, underscoring the impact these specialists make in communities.
Vestibular Rehabilitation — addressing dizziness, balance disorders, concussion sequelae, and other inner-ear or vestibular-related impairments. Vestibular PT is a highly skilled area with significant quality-of-life implications, and we are seeking more volunteers with this training to serve patients who would otherwise go without care.

What It Means to Join

As a PT ACCESS referral site, your clinic:
✅ Becomes part of a statewide network helping patients who would otherwise go without care.
✅ Provides care on your own schedule — your team decides how many patients to treat.
✅ Qualifies for protection under the Illinois Good Samaritan Act as pro bono service.

The updated Code aims to enhance and clarify ethical standards for the profession.

On July 14, 2025, the APTA House of Delegates officially adopted The Code of Ethics for the Physical Therapy Profession. This updated Code combines into one document the current Code of Ethics for the Physical Therapist with the Standards of Ethical Conduct for the Physical Therapist Assistant.

The Code of Ethics for the Physical Therapy Profession aligns with widely accepted ethical principles and articulates the ethical responsibilities expected of all professionals in the field of physical therapy. It is effective as of Jan. 1, 2026.

Now available, an APTA Podcast episode "What to Know About the New Code of Ethics for the Physical Therapy Profession". Members of the APTA Ethics and Judicial Committee and the Ethics Task Force break down what the code means for both everyday practice and the future of the profession. Plus, learn how the code was modernized to help PTs, PTAs, and students make ethical decisions in the era of AI and other emerging technologies.

The APTA has developed this Disciplinary Action Procedural Document to guide the Ethics and Judicial Committee, or EJC, a committee of the APTA Board of Directors, and Board of Directors in processing complaints against a member of APTA alleging the member has violated the Code of Ethics for the Physical Therapy Profession ("Code").

Join the Illinois Falls Prevention Coalition

The Illinois Falls Prevention Coalition — a collaborative network of professionals and community members, supported in part by the National Council on Aging, brings together advocates and experts from healthcare, aging services, public health, housing, and beyond to share ideas, coordinate efforts, and promote safe aging in place.

The overarching goal of the Coalition is to reduce falls among older adults and people living with disabilities across our state. Through the Coalition, you can access fall prevention resources, news, events, and services.

The Coalition is looking for new members! They meet virtually every other month. There are no membership dues. Members are encouraged to join a workgroup based on their interests or expertise; however, your level of involvement is optional!

Earlier this month, a few brave souls from your IPT-PAC Committee (Jim Milder, Peter McMenamin, and yours truly) headed north to Chicago for the annual Fulcrum Government Strategies legislative event — where the coffee is strong, the handshakes are firm, and the conversations shape what happens in Springfield.

Each fall, our lobby firm gathers clients and key Illinois lawmakers to talk about what’s ahead for the state. This year, we had the chance to spend time with some of the real movers and shakers, including:

The conversations were relaxed but meaningful — the kind where you can talk big-picture ideas without the timer on a committee meeting counting down. We shared early thoughts about our 2026 legislative priorities, discussed what’s coming out of the recent Veto Session, and made sure physical therapy continues to be seen as a solution, not just a service. We also caught up with colleagues from the Illinois Hospital Association and the Illinois Society of Anesthesiologists. (If you’ve never watched a physical therapist, an anesthesiologist, and a lobbyist try to agree on who’s got the toughest job — it’s worth the price of admission.)

Events like this are about more than policy; they’re about presence. Showing up, shaking hands, and having a seat at the table ensures our profession’s voice stays strong when decisions are being made.

IPTF’s Student to Student Scholarship is funded BY students FOR students. This competitive scholarship recognizes students who demonstrate a desire to care for future patients and acknowledges involvement within the Association and volunteer activities.

CELEBRATING PHYSICAL THERAPY MONTH!

October is National Physical Therapy Month (NPTM)! All month, we celebrate the physical therapy profession, spotlight the many benefits of physical therapy, and show how physical therapists and physical therapist assistants can provide patient-centered care that provides true value and improves the health of society.

This year's theme focuses on APTA's new consumer awareness campaign, "PT For Future Me," highlights physical therapy's role in enhancing movement and function in people of every age and ability. It emphasizes prevention, wellness, and improving mobility and strength to support all aspects of work, life, and play.

Member resources are available in the PR and Marketing Center — including a ready-to-use member toolkit, patient toolkit, animated video, infographic, new social media graphics, and more.

Now is an ideal time for member PTs to update or activate their Find a PT profiles. NPTM not only educates the public about the benefits of physical therapy, it also directs them to APTA's Find a PT Directory — a trusted resource to find physical therapists by location, practice focus, or specialization. Two of our Illinois members have been selected as honorees in APTA's 2025 Honors and Awards Program.

Lois Hedman, PT, DScPT, MS, joins the ranks of the honored few with recognition as a Catherine Worthingham Fellow of the APTA designation, the highest honor among APTA’s membership categories. This designation honors individuals whose contributions to the profession through leadership, influence, and achievements demonstrate frequent and sustained efforts to advance the physical therapy profession.

Jessica Nehrt, PTA will be honored with the Outstanding Physical Therapist/Physical Therapist Assistant Team Award which recognizes outstanding clinical practice interaction between physical therapists and physical therapist assistants who are a part of a highly functional PT-PTA Team.

Rosalind Franklin University Hosts 2025 National Advocacy Dinner

On Tuesday, April 15, Rosalind Franklin University PT Program Classes of 2025 & 2026 in cooperation with the IPTA Northern District, hosted a multi-school National Advocacy Dinner generously sponsored by the IPTA.

PT students from Rosalind Franklin, as well was PTA students from Elgin Community College and McHenry Community College, and Northern District members enjoyed an inspirational evening of discussion and learning.

During dinner, participants discussed the importance of advocacy in their lives as well as topics that were important to them in the world of physical therapy. They then downloaded the APTA Action app and reviewed how they can be involved in Advocacy at the national level through this medium.

Dr. Tina Jonas, PT, DPT, CertMDT, IADN Cert, Director of Education for Doctors of Physical Therapy was the keynote speaker of the evening. Tina spoke of her advocacy journey which was inspired by her parents early in childhood.

The event was well received and considered an overwhelming success by both participants and planners. Thank you to the participants (some of who drove over 1.5 hours to the event,) and event planners from the RFU Class of 2025 and 2026. Special thanks to IPTA for their advice and sponsorship of the event.

In Memoriam: Sarah A. Keller, PT, DPT

With a heavy heart, the IPTA shares the sad news of the unexpected passing on Sarah A. Keller, PT, DPT on December 11th, 2024. As a devoted member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) since 2005. Sarah’s unwavering dedication to the physical therapy profession and commitment to the association will be remembered fondly by all who knew her.

Sarah was born on March 8, 1982 in Davenport. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science from Saint Louis University in 2004, followed by a Master’s in Physical Therapy in 2006, and a Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2007. Throughout her career, she earned numerous certifications, including Neurologic Clinical Specialist from the APTA, and was a Credentialed Advanced Clinical Instructor.

After working as a full time staff Physical Therapist at Marianjoy Rehabilitation Hospital since 2006, Sarah transitioned her focus to preparing the next generation of physical therapists as an tenured Associate Professor in the Physical Therapy Program at Midwestern University. In recognition of her contributions, Sarah received the Excellence in Service Award from Midwestern University in 2017, a testament to her impact as a mentor and educator.

As a clinical researcher, she has had many peer-reviewed publications in the areas of stroke and orthotics and FES use with people with neurological conditions and spoke nationally at many conferences, and was currently working on her dissertation for her PhD.

Within our Association, Sarah's professional contributions have been far-reaching. She served as a member of our Board of Directors as East Central District Chair (2013-2017) and most recently as Chief Delegate (2024) leading the Illinois delegation at APTA’s House of Delegates. Sarah's dedicated many years as a Delegate at Large (2015-2023) shaping our profession’s future focuses. Sarah was an engaged leader and a great representative for our Chapter on the national level.

She will be remembered for her contributions and especially her intelligence, attention to detail, organizational skills and drive. She's left a lasting impression and we are grateful to have had the privilege of working alongside her.” says IPTA Chapter President, Tina Frank, PT.

She also served on many other important committees and task forces, including: APTA Ethics Review Tasks force (2022-2024); Leadership Content Development Group (2021-2024); IPTF Research Awareness & Support Task Force (2014-2024); Ethics Committee Chair (2017, and 2022); APTA Taskforce for Revisions to the Core Ethical Documents (2023); and Assembly Representative for the East Central District (2009-2023).

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Sarah’s family and many friends. We share in your loss. Sarah’s presence will be deeply missed by her colleagues, students, and patients, as well as the entire physical therapy community. Her dedication to advancing the profession, her ethical leadership, and her service to the APTA and IPTA will be remembered for years to come.

November 5, 2024, marks a critical turning point in our democracy where every vote will impact diversity, equity, inclusion, and related (DEI+) efforts. This election has the potential to significantly influence public sentiment and awareness about DEI+ topics and issues, and its outcomes could have lasting effects on advancing these efforts.

Your vote may impact the following three key areas related to DEI+:

Policy Change: Elected officials have the power to create and enforce laws that support or hinder DEI+ initiatives. Voting for candidates who prioritize DEI+ can lead to systemic changes.
Resource Allocation: Elections determine funding and resources for DEI+ programs, and government funding for DEI+ programs often depends on the priorities of elected officials.
Representation: Voting helps ensure that diverse individuals are represented in government, leading to more inclusive decision-making that reflects the needs of all, especially those from historically marginalized groups.

October is National Physical Therapy Month: Let’s Celebrate DEIB!

October marks National Physical Therapy Month, a time to recognize the vital role that physical therapists (PTs) and physical therapist assistants (PTAs) play in enhancing health and well-being. This year, it is also an opportunity to celebrate diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) within the profession, toward cultivating a culture of belonging in physical therapy settings.

DEIB encompasses the principles of recognizing and embracing the diverse backgrounds, identities, and lived experiences of both PTs, PTAs, and patients. In physical therapy, diversity includes recognizing differences in age, ability, ethnicity, gender, race, religion, sex, socioeconomic status, among others. Equity involves ensuring fair access to care and resources. Inclusion invites everyone to participate, while belonging promotes an environment where everyone feels valued and respected for being their authentic self.

A commitment to DEIB in physical therapy enhances patient care by:

Improving Patient Outcomes: When patients see themselves reflected in their providers and feel understood, they are more likely to engage in their treatment plans, leading to better health outcomes.
Expanding Perspectives: A diverse workforce brings a variety of perspectives and approaches to patient management, fostering innovation and improving therapeutic outcomes.
Building Trust: Inclusive practices cultivate trust between PTs, PTAs, and the communities we serve, which is crucial for effective rehabilitation and recovery.

So, this October we encourage you to promote DEIB by:

Hosting Workshops: Provide training on cultural humility and unconscious bias for staff to enhance understanding and sensitivity towards diverse patient populations.
Highlighting Diverse Voices: Celebrate the stories and successes of diverse PTs, PTAs, and patients. Share these narratives through social media and organizational channels to inspire and educate.
Engaging in Community Outreach: Engage with underresourced communities to provide accessible health education and services, ensuring that everyone has an opportunity to participate in physical therapy and wellness programs.
Fostering Belonging: Create an environment where all staff and patients feel they belong. This can be achieved through inclusive policies, supportive workplace culture, and regular feedback loops to address concerns.

As we celebrate National Physical Therapy Month, let us reaffirm our commitment to DEIB. By embracing diversity, ensuring equity, fostering inclusion, and cultivating belonging we can enhance the effectiveness of physical therapy, making a profound difference in the lives of all patients. Together, let us create a future where everyone feels they belong in their journey toward health and healing.
