Assembly Motion Development: Got an Idea?

Tina Jonas, PT, DPT, Cert MDT,
Speaker of the Assembly

Although our Assembly meeting in April 2020 seems a long way off, it’s the perfect season to start working on main motions to be considered at the meeting.

The call for 2020 Assembly motions has now begun!

Click here to learn how to begin.

The Reference Committee is available to help you navigate in the journey to present motions and includes the following members:

Ideas for motions can come from any member or group and will also be discussed at monthly Assembly calls starting in January. Earlier this year, members attended a brainstorming session and came up with ideas that you are welcome to use to start thinking of relevant issues that our Association should be considering for motions. Throughout the process of developing a motion, the motion may change or the support statement may also expand to address issues that other members identify in the preliminary discussion. Finally, that carefully crafted motion will be brought forward at the Assembly on Saturday, April 25th, 2020 for discussion, debate and eventually voted upon. View the 2020 Assembly Apportionment & Roster by clicking here.

I hope that you will consider submitting a main motion or start to participate in the virtual discussions on the Assembly. Please contact me ( with any questions on where to start, or perhaps to meet in person to discuss your ideas. This is the year of 20/20 - our vision is strong and through the Assembly we continue to move the profession and practice of physical therapy forward.

"What's Brewing in the IPTA?"
