APTA's Student Assembly's Flash Action Strategy

Participate by Taking Action September 18-19th

This year’s annual student-led advocacy campaign (Flash Action Strategy or FAS) will work to support efforts to include physical therapists in the loan payment program under National Health Services Corp Loan Repayment Program, which would send PTs into rural and underserved areas and help address the nation’s opioid crisis in area that have been especially hard-hit.

The Physical Therapist Workforce and Patient Access Act of 2019 (H.R. 2802 /S. 970) was reintroduced in the US House of Representatives by Diana DeGette (D-CO) and Representatives John Shimkus (R-IL), and in the US Senate by Senators John Tester (D-MT), Roger Wicker (R-MS), and Angus King (I-ME). The Physical Therapist Workforce and Patient Access would authorize physical therapists to participate in the National Health Service Corps (NHSC) Loan Repayment Program, ensuring patient access to essential physical therapy services.
