Using Telehealth to Help Patients with Advanced Cancer Improve Quality of Life

Would patients with advanced cancer benefit from therapy to help maintain function and quality of life? That’s the question researchers wanted to know after observing that patients with late-stage cancer were not being provided rehabilitation to help maintain function affected by their disease.

In this episode of Move Forward Radio, a Mayo Clinic rehabilitation physician and renowned researcher discuss the results of her study, featured in JAMA Oncology, which examined if telerehabilitation—in the form of telephone contact with a physical therapist who had extensive experience in cancer rehabilitation—would improve patients’ function and quality of life.
