Are we ready for a makeover?

APTA shared a preview of the new branding that will be rolling out in 2020 and asked components to consider transitioning with them.  Components have three options:

  1. No change. Components may choose to maintain their current brand, logo, and name.
  2. Maintain current brand but demonstrate alignment.  The option allows components to retain their current logo and name. To demonstrate alignment, components can add a standardized sponsorship line to their logos: “A component of APTA.”
  3. APTA-leading alignment. This option is for components ready to adopt APTA-leading alignment and APTA’s new brand guidelines, which would involve adoption of APTA’s brand architecture in terms of logo design and naming convention. While funding to assist in the transition is included in the APTA budget for fiscal year that begins July 1, use of those funds will be limited to creation on the images and not towards real expenses like changing over websites, signage, banners, or our collateral materials such as business cards and letterhead.

The finance committee will meet on July 13th and consider what the full costs to the Chapter would be if the IPTA chose to elect option 2 or 3 and that information will be included in their report to the Board at the September meeting so that the Board can consider all of the resource implications. More information will be shared later this fall but, in the meantime, Illinois members are invited to share their opinion of the new brand in the comment section (below).

I am not sure the expense is worth whatever would be the proposed benefit at the current time. There is likely a better place of which to devote resources.

I'm with you Tina. I don't think we should change our current logo, unless there is more information towards the rationale from the APTA.

I'm not impressed with the new logo/branding. Sometimes newer/different isn't better. There may be some rationale behind what was chosen, which could sway my opinion. For IL, I prefer our current logo. I like how IPTA is spelled out.
