Attending CSM? Programming for the Illinois Advocate

APTA’s 2019 Combined Sections Meeting (CSM) will take place next week (January 23-26) in Washington, DC. Thousands of physical therapy professionals and students from across the nation will gather for several stimulating days of educational programming, networking opportunities, and an exhibit hall filled with products and services relating to PT.

There are multiple educational sessions relating to payment, state and federal legislative, and regulatory issues. A few courses that we find of some interest to the Illinois advocate include:

Thursday, January 24th
11:00 AM – 1:00 PM.

Have you ever thought - "do I need to worry about my home health patient using voice assist devices like Alexis, Cortana, or even Siri when I am in their home providing care? or Can I use social media in decision making for hiring a PT or PTA or for student selection in our PT/PTA program?" In this session, the presenters will provide information, offer solutions, and increase awareness of new technologies, so each of us can reduce risk as we innovate in physical therapy and in health care in general. A panel of experts will discuss legal and ethical issues around the use of technology in physical therapy and make suggestions to reduce risk. Read more...

Important decisions about right and wrong are made daily in physical therapy clinical settings. The values of the APTA Code of Ethics should continually guide ”and be guided” by the vision and values of the physical therapy profession as it continues to develop.
