Help! My Patient Has a Furry Back!

Pets are family, and many people are recognizing that their pet companions can benefit from some of the same – or similar – physical therapy treatment as humans.

At this year's REVITALIZE, meet the canine client!

Speakers Francisco Maia, PT, DPT, CCR and Jeanine Freeberg, PT, DPT, C/NDT will introduce you to the the canine client including comparative anatomy and movement patterns between the canine and human client, common conditions of the canine client, and how to establish a plan of care. For those interested in expanding their customer base to include our furry friends, you'll hear about the current legislative and cultural climate around treating canines, and where you can find out more.

Upon completion of this course, the participant should be able to:

  1. Identify and describe similarities and differences between human and canine anatomy and movement patterns.
  2. Differentiate between normal and abnormal motions in the canine client.
  3. Establish an appropriate plan of care to correct abnormal movement patterns using a combination of manual techniques, therapeutic exercises, functional activities, and use of adjunct therapeutic aids.
  4. State and understand the legal issues surrounding the practice of animal physical therapy in the state of Illinois.
  5. Describe opportunities to network and expand your education in the treatment of the canine client.

This year’s REVITALIZE conference & expo will take place on April 13-14 at the Q Center in St. Charles, Il. Mark your calendars, book your hotel, and gear up for the highly anticipated IPTA event of the year!

Don't delay! Registration for both the REVITALIZE Conference and the Assembly of Representatives closes at 11:59 pm on March 30th - no exceptions!
