2017 Federal Advocacy Forum Urgent Update

By: Julie Schwertfeger, PT, DPT, MBA, CBIST
Illinois Federal Affairs Liaison

Information was brought to every legislator in Illinois, and we met with many. President Michael Riley, PT; IPTA member April Ritz, PT, DPT, and Federal Affairs Liaison Julie Schwertfeger, PT, DPT, MBA, CBIST (as pictured above) wore down some shoe leather on Capitol Hill on all our behalf.

Please help make it stick by taking action by contacting your House Representative and our Illinois Senators today.  Please reference the packet that we left in their office on your behalf as a constituent when you do!

The three issues we covered are:

  1. Request for co-sponsorship and support of the Physical Therapist Workforce and Patient Access Act (H.R. 1639 / S. 619)
  2. Co-sponsorship and support of the Medicare Access to Rehabilitation Services Act (H.R. 807/S.253)
  3. Request for our Senators to assist in a workgroup to craft bipartisan language for the Sports Medicine Licensure Clarity Act of 2017 (H.R. 302/S. 808)

Here are some snaps from our journey.
