Treatment of the Upper Extremity

A Continuing Education Program for Physical Therapists and Physical Therapist Assistants Presented by Integrated Functional Seminars


Course Description: Clinicians of all experience levels will benefit and be able to apply these techniques to musculoskeletal conditions at any level of acuity. You will learn how to assess joint mobility in an integrated and efficient manner and connect the findings to treatment; incorporate evaluation findings into treatment techniques when treating upper extremity pathologies; combine principles of manual therapy and therapeutic exercise to achieve better outcomes; and, use therapeutic exercise to build upon manual therapy treatment and create effective home exercise programs. Novice clinicians will learn how to structure the evaluation in an integrated and efficient manner and connect exam findings.

Course Objectives: Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Apply knowledge and principles of soft tissue healing to both manual therapy and therapeutic exercise interventions.
  • Structure patient treatment relative to soft tissue healing principles
  • Apply principles of integrated upper extremity mechanics and posture to evaluate and treat musculoskeletal conditions of the upper extremity
  • Apply the concepts of integrated movement mechanics to design effective home exercise programs
  • Perform and interpret manual and functional tests for the upper extremity to identify therapy diagnoses
  • Apply manual therapy techniques to improve patient outcomes

Course material will be provided in a bound format to all participants.


All participants must register for both days of the program. Includes continental breakfast and box lunch.
