Adult Survivors of Childhood Cancer"

Join us for this month's Spotlight on Research Virtual Learning course as Betsy Campione, PT, DPT, CLT-LANA presents her research on "Physical Therapy Implications When Working with Adult Survivors of Childhood Cancer."

Survival after childhood cancer exceeds 80% in the United States. While these children may be cured of cancer, the treatment can lead to life-long consequences including adverse health outcomes, premature physiologic aging and frailty. As the number of cancer survivors increase, it is becoming increasingly important that physical therapists understand the cancer related morbidities faced by this patient population. This webinar will outline the late effects of cancer treatment in survivors of childhood cancer as they transition into adulthood and advanced age. The role of PT in monitoring and managing these effects will be discussed.

Course Objectives::
Upon completion of this webinar, the participant will be able to:

  • Identify the late effects of cancer treatment in survivors of childhood cancer as they transition into adulthood and advanced age.
  • Demonstrated understanding of frailty and how it impacts this patient population.
  • Define the role of physical therapy in monitoring and managing the late effects of childhood cancer treatment.
