Course Description: This workshop will focus on the latest science of pain and pain modulation. Dr. Anderson will expand on how Pilates movement experiences can actually modulate pain perception and the physiology and blood chemistry of the brain and body. Dr. Anderson will teach the use of language, movement and perception as tools to reduce pain. Discover how through Pilates you can access your internal medicine cabinet.

Following the workshop, participants will:

  1. Become familiar with current theories and research regarding Pain Modulation
  2. Learn how the brain interprets pain
  3. Learn how Pilates movement can be a tool to change the brain's interpretation of pain
  4. Learn how language and intention of the movement teacher is crucial to shift the pain paradigm.
