#THIRDTHURSDAY: Telehealth: What You Should Know


We invite you to join us from 5:30 - 8 pm on Thursday, October 18th as we welcome panelist from IPTA's Telehealth Workgroup to share their knowledge and expertise on "Telehealth: What You Should Know ".

Telehealth is a growing aspect of healthcare and in the last few years it has made its way into physical therapy care. Join us to learn what recent changes have occurred in Illinois legislation changing how physical therapists can utilize telehealth. Additionally what you should know prior to incorporating telehealth into your practice and participate in a Q&A with a panel of members from the IPTA’s Telehealth Workgroup  


What to expect: 

Upon completion of the program, participants will be able to:

  • Understand pertinent laws and scope of practice utilizing telehealth as a PT/PTA in Illinois;
  • Learn a summary of the APTA website materials on telehealth including terminology, legal and ethical considerations, and other resources;
  • Understand what current literature exists on telehealth physical therapy;
  • Learn how telehealth is and can be utilized in patient care;
  • Become aware of legal considerations when utilizing telehealth including HIPAA compliance, technical considerations, professional liability insurance, and insurance reimbursement;



About the Panelists

Kyle Fahey, PT, DPT; Inpatient Pain Management, Shirley Ryan Ability Lab is a graduate of Northwestern University's Doctor of Physical Therapy Program. He currently treats as the Inpatient Pain Management Physical Therapist at the Shirley Ryan Ability Lab and is the Chairman of the Illinois Physical Therapy Association's Telehealth Workgroup.

Brad Tracy, PT, DPT, OCS, FAAOMPT has been a physical therapist for 15 years. Brad graduated from Des Moines University with a Masters of Science in Physical Therapy. Subsequently, he completed a transitional DPT program at Regis University. He is a board certified orthopedic specialist and recently completed a manual therapy fellowship program with Evidence in Motion. Brad is currently the IPTA Northern District chair and is member of the IPTA Telehealth Workgroup. He is on faculty with Evidence in Motion and is an adjunct faculty member with South College. He currently practices with a hospital based outpatient setting within the Edward/Elmhurst Health system.

Cindy Rechenmacher, PT, MS, CLTLANA; Marianjoy Rehabilitation Hospital, Outpatient Manager has been a physical therapist for 24 years. She practiced for 10 years in outpatient orthopedics before transitioning to outpatient at Marianjoy Rehabilitation Hospital, part of Northwestern Medicine, where she is currently the outpatient Manager. Cindy is a member of the IPTA Telehealth Workgroup.
