#THIRDTHURSDAY: Nurturing Touch and Infant Massage – As a Complementary Intervention

We invite you to join us from 6 - 8 pm on Thursday, August 20th as we welcome Donna Anderson, MS, PT, CEIM to share her insight and expertise on "Nurturing Touch and Infant Massage – As a Complementary Intervention"

Research confirms that caring human touch has an extraordinary ability to sooth, reassure, relieve, promote healthy attachments and provide a lasting impact on a child’s emotional and physical development. This introductory session will share the importance of touch and the implications of nurturing touch and massage in the healthy physiological and emotional growth and development of infants and children, with special health care needs.

What to expect: 

Objectives: 
By the end of this lecture participants will be able to:

  • Identify the importance of nurturing touch and massage in the healthy physiological growth and development of infants and children.
  • Identify the importance of nurturing touch and massage in the healthy social/emotional growth and development of infants and children.
  • Discuss current research on the benefits of touch and massage for infants, children and their families.

About the Speaker

Donna Anderson, MS, PT, CEIM earned her Bachelor of Science degree in physical therapy from Quinnipiac University in Hamden, CT. She went on to complete her graduate studies in Human Development and Community Resources at the University of Wisconsin. Committed to a family–centered care framework, Donna has provided pediatric therapy for over 30 years. She has worked with young children and their families in hospitals, clinics, developmental centers, private practice, public schools, and early intervention programs.

Dedicated to the vision of a gentler and more peaceful world for all, Donna developed a passion to promote nurturing touch and massage. She became a Certified Infant Massage Educator with the International Association of Infant Massage (IAIM)-US Chapter in 1996, and an International Trainer with IAIM in 2002. Donna is a participating member of APTA, WPTA, ABMP, Infant Massage USA, IAIM, ZERO To Three and the Wisconsin Alliance for Infant Mental Health.

A mother of one daughter, Donna currently lives in Madison, WI supporting families, facilitating “Sensational Baby,” Community Infant Massage Classes and traveling throughout the country presenting Infant Massage workshops and certification trainings.


WEBINAR INSTRUCTIONS:

This meeting will be presented virtually via Zoom. Prior to the meeting, you will have to download the free zoom platform to your PC, MAC, iOS, or Android to utilize its capabilities.  Plan to sign in at 6:00 pm and enter your name when prompted.

An email will go out to all those who RSVP'd to attend the course the morning of the #THIRDTHURSDAY. In that email will have important information including the meeting ID # and password. It will also contain the course handouts and the link to complete the post presentation evaluation for CE credit.

CE CREDITS**: 

In order to receive CE certificate for this presentation, attendees will be emailed the morning of the program with a link to complete a short course evaluation.

CE certificate for IPTA members will be awarded to their member profile upon completion of the evaluation.

If you are NOT yet a member of a IPTA, upon completion of the quiz/evaluation please allow 7-10 business days for a CE certificate to be sent to you via the email address provided during registration. 

** As this presentation is being presented LIVE by the presenter, it will count as traditional (in-person) CE.
