IPTA Practice Excellence Series: Clinical Concepts of the Patient with Orthopedic Knee Dysfunction

On January 28, 2011, the IPTA Practice Excellence Series kicks off with the course, Current Clinical Concepts of the Patient with Orthopedic Knee Dysfunction  with speaker Ricardo A. Fernandez, Phd, PT, OCS, CSCS.  The event will take place at the Wyndham Lisle Chicago Hotel & Executive Meeting Center, and will cost only $25.00 for IPTA members (all IPTA members will receive a $25 Visa gift card upon completion of the course), and $125.00 for non-members.  Online registration for the course is open until January 21st.

Course Description
This course will provide the physical therapist and physical therapist assistant with a review of the anatomy, biomechanics, and the latest research applications to a variety of knee impairments. The theories, signs and symptoms, and intervention strategies will be discussed for many knee diagnoses such as patellofemoral syndrome, anterior cruciate ligament injuries, patellar tendinitis, and meniscal tears. The educational format will include lecture, case-studies, discussion, and laboratory.

Ricardo A.  Fernandez, PhD, PT, OCS, CSCS is a clinician, researcher, and lecturer.  While a full-time faculty member at Northwestern University, Ricardo studied the relationship between posture and knee dysfunction as part of his doctoral work.  Ricardo has presented over one hundred professional presentations on knee and shoulder topics in eighteen states and he has also lectured internationally in Aruba and Peru.
