Updates from the PTA Caucus

By: Lisa Zemaitis, PTA, IPTA PTA Director

The PTA Caucus (PTAC) engaged in lively conversation at this year’s House of Delegates in Boston. Much of the discussion was recapturing our commitment to the goals of the PTAC. One goal remains at the top is to continuously reinforce the value and strengthen the relationship between the PT/PTA Team. We accomplished this goal in Illinois at REVITALIZE with the educational segment: It’s The A Team: A Look At The PT/PTA Team Plus Progression Exercise in Different Population. Several other discussions at the HOD supported the presence of therapists to be leaders in our communities, advocating as a resource, and access to the public for health information.

An ongoing concern in reimbursement has been with TRICARE reimbursing for PTA provider services. This continues to gain national support from the APTA and its members. More information will be available in the near future.

The advocacy campaign with the Center of Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) has partnered with the APTA in an effort to decrease Opioid use among our communities. Who better to support this effort…#ChoosePT

Lastly, the PTAC supports educating our peers, employers on the value of an APTA and Chapter (IPTA) membership for themselves and their employees! #BetterTogether.
