Illinois Students taking on the 2016 Global PT Day of Service

October 15th, 2016 marked the second annual Global PT Day of Service, also referred to as PTSDOS.  This worldwide humanitarian effort demonstrated that asphysical therapy professionals and students, we have the ability to impact change and transform lives outside of the clinic.

Your Illinois SSIG leadership team challenged all of the Illinois DPT and PTA programs to participate.

We are happy to recognize the Illinois programs for their participation.

Northwestern Uniiversity
's PT students, faculty and alumni collected 2,215 meals worth of donations for the Greater Chicago Food Depository - 5x the amount last year!

Rosalind Franklin University DPT students along with faculty and we collected a total of 324 items for the Northern Illinois Food Bank!

PTA students at Elgin Community College hosted a food drive to benefit the Elgin Community College Spartan Campus Pantry.

DPT students from Bradley University organized a group of volunteers to help out at Loaves & Fishes, a local food pantry in Peoria.

PTA students from Morton College collected and donated requested items for the Center for Independence in Countryside, IL. The Center for Independence provides therapy services for children with physical disabilities. Pictured here are the first year PTA students and Dr. Fran Wedge, Director.

Midwestern University's
DPT students volunteered at Feed My Starving Children by hand- packing meals to reach the neediest children in the world!

Southwestern Illinois College PTA students held a toy/stuffed animal drive to benefit St. Louis Children’s Hospital and already have plans to make this an annual event!

What an amazing success!!! We hope you join us for PT Day of Service 2017!
