The use of all of the IPTA Communities and Forums is an exclusive benefit to members of the IPTA. They are designed to facilitate the dissemination of the information and the exchange of ideas regarding the practice of physical therapy between members of the IPTA.
At the Illinois Physical Therapy Association (IPTA), governance refers to the processes and systems by which the organization operates.
The authority to govern within IPTA is shared among:
Members The Assembly of Representatives The Board of Directors Committees with specialized tasks, such as Finance, Ethics, and our Delegation to the APTA House of Delegates. The IPTA is one of 51 Chapters (Components) of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA). Each state and the District of Columbia have a geographically defined Chapter of the APTA.
The IPTA is part of the APTA’s governance process, through our participation in the APTA House of Delegates. Illinois is one of the larger Chapters in the APTA House of Delegates, based on membership size.
To serve its members at the local level, the Illinois Physical Therapy Association maintains eight geographically defined districts. Each district elects leaders to serve as liaison to the Chapter and to provide local programming and services to the district membership.
The IPTA's Communities of Interest provide a forum for discussion on topics of professional interest.
