Anatomy Dissection for Health Care Professionals: Dissection of the Lower Extremity and Hip Girdle

Course Description: 

This course provides clinicians with a solid anatomical and kinesiological basis for understanding the normal functional anatomy of the lower extremity. Including the musculoskeletal, nervous, and vascular systems. Each morning will consist of 5 minutes of didactics followed by 3 hours of anatomical dissection. This is a 4 morning continuing education course designed for health care professionals of all disciplines including physical and occupational therapists, nurses, physician's, and chiropractors (and any other individuals who wishes to refresh their understanding of functional human anatomy through intensive hands-on dissection).

Course Objectives:

Course Participants will:

  • Dissect the lower extremity to reveal the muscular and neurovascular components that contribute to general human function
  • Dissect and identify muscles of the hip girdle that act on the lower extremity
  • Review the muscles of the lower extremity, including their attachment sites and innervation; discuss the neurovascular of each anatomical compartment in the lower extremity
  • Examine the compartments of the lower extremity with regard to normal and abnormal function
