#THIRDTHURSDAY: #ChoosePT - First: Overcoming Barriers to Physical Therapy Access to Help Fight the Opioid Crisis in Illinois.

We invite you to join us from 5:30 - 8 pm on Thursday, November 16th as Colleen Flannery, IPTA Executive Director shares her knowledge and expertise on "#ChoosePT - First: Overcoming Barriers to Physical Therapy Access to Help Fight the Opioid Crisis in Illinois ".

Despite extensive efforts to raise awareness and address the human toll of the opioid epidemic, Illinois citizens continue to be prescribed and to abuse opioids at alarming rates.

The IPTA is making a valiant effort to help fight the opioid epidemic by improving access to physical therapy here in Illinois, protect patient rights to choose treatment and providers, all while improving the quality and affordability of healthcare for your patients!

Colleen’s presentation will focus on the IPTA’s aggressive legislative agenda on gaining unrestricted direct access here in Illinois.

Please note that this presentation WILL NOT be recorded for our #THIRDTHURSDAY Virtual Library. Please make prior arrangements to attend via in person or zoom on November 16th.

What to expect:

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify current limitations within the Illinois PT Practice Act that impede access to physical therapy.
  • Understand how high copays serve as a barrier to access to physical therapy.
  • Understand Implications of non-physical therapy utilizing terms protected under the Illinois Physical Therapy Act.
