#THIRDTHURSDAY: Awareness of Comorbid Autoimmune Disease in Outpatient Physical Therapy

We invite you to join us from 5:30 - 8 pm on Thursday, June 15th as  Denise Schneider, PT, MPT, FAAOMPT, COMT, TPS, ATC  shares her knowledge and expertise on "Awareness of Comorbid Autoimmune Disease in Outpatient Physical Therapy".

Autoimmune disease is prevalent in the general population and is the third most common type of disease in the United States after cancer and heart disease. Therefore, it is likely that an outpatient physical therapist will experience various patients that may have autoimmune disease as comorbidity. It is important that the physical therapist have an awareness of autoimmune disease due to the impact on patient prognosis, treatment, and outcomes. This lecture will provide a basic synopsis of autoimmune disease and physical therapy treatment considerations.

What to expect:

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Gain a basic understanding of autoimmune disease

  • Gain knowledge of the prevalence, signs and symptoms, and specific characteristics of the common autoimmune diseases

  • Gain an understanding of physical therapy treatment considerations in management of patients who have comorbid autoimmune disease

Also, we invite you to celebrate with us the newest additions to our IPTA Legacy Walk! Light food and beverages will be provided.

IPTA's Legacy Walk gives members and friends an opportunity to become a part of the Chapter’s rich history and its future with the purchase of engraved pavers that will be installed in the brick pathway surrounding the Chapter office.
