5:30 –6:30 PM: Eastern District Meeting - Look forward to learning more about IPTA's Direct Access legislation and motions that will come forth at this year's Assembly of Representatives.


6:30 - 9:00 PM: "Introduction to Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM) Techniques"

2.5 hours of CE!



Description: This 2 ½ hour course covers the theory and basic skills necessary and to safely begin Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM) techniques. In this basic skills acquisition course, participants will receive hands-on instruction in the proper use of IASTM through a lab-focused teaching format. This course will address proper instrument selection to address body contours and reach target tissues.

Lab attire consisting of shorts, as well as swimsuit or halter-tops for women is essential to allow for proper practice of techniques.

Objectives: At the completion of this program participants will be able to:

  • List the precautions and contraindications for IASTM.
  • Understand and identify the appropriate IASTM treatment edge.
  • Identify appropriate basic treatment IASTM strokes.

Light food and beverage will be provided.

Speaker: Christine Klody, PT, DPT, MPT, CSCS

Christine Klody, PT, DPT, MPT, CSCS earned both her Doctorate and her Masters Degree from Northwestern University School of Medicine’s Physical Therapy and Human Movement Sciences Program. Dr. Klody has been treating in the private practice arena since 2003, in addition to completing four clinical residencies across the country since 2001. She specializes in outpatient orthopaedics and sports medicine, primarily treating an adult population. Dr. Klody is IASTM Hawk Grips Certified and uses these highly effective hands-on tools as an adjunct to her customized treatment plans in treating a number of soft tissue diagnoses that her patients present with, including various types of tendonitis and tendonosis. Dr. Klody is the Founder and Director of DPT Sport, a boutique physical therapy clinic and custom fitness design center located in Burr Ridge, IL.
