Physical Therapist Assistant Students
Students have an opportunity to become involved with IPTA, even while they are still in school. The IPTA districts welcome students at meetings and events sponsored at the local level. Some districts even have special “student days” where the program is centered on the needs of students. You don’t need to wait until you’ve graduated to become involved in the greater physical therapy community – the people you meet when you’re a student will someday be your future employers, co-workers and fellow volunteers.
At the state level, we have several opportunities to become involved and reach out to your future colleagues. You can become part of committees, help organize student events, serve as a representative to the IPTA Assembly of Representatives and attend CE geared for students. The faculty members at your school will be glad you asked about opportunities to get involved. You can also contact us directly at the Chapter office.
You can also access the resources of the American Physical Therapy Association to expand your view of the physical therapy world. Events like APTA’s National Student Conclave offer unmatched experiences for students. APTA offers essential services to its PTA student members, like access to a database of more than 35,000 newly published health sciences books and software titles—complete with peer reviews, publications and access to APTA staff experts who can help you with your questions.
