Reimbursement

Reimbursement for physical therapy services by third party payers is a complex subject and requires that the PT, PTA and/or facility staff become expert in navigating the myriad of payer types, insurance plans and coverage policies. 

The American Physical Therapy Association publishes several resources on payment for physical therapy services.  APTA also has general information about reimbursement for physical therapy services.

The Illinois Physical Therapy Association offers occasional courses and audio conferences on reimbursement topics.  Members can request assistance with specific reimbursement questions from the IPTA or APTA.
