Medicare
Medicare is a program that is administered by the Federal Government. The program provides health insurance to persons 65 year of age and older, as well as individuals who are entitled to disability benefits under Social Security or the Railroad Retirement program. Individuals requiring dialysis or kidney transplants with end stage renal disease are eligible for Medicare benefits.
Medicare Part A covers services provided in the inpatient hospital setting, some home health care and services in skilled nursing facilities.
Medicare Part B helps cover doctors' services and outpatient care. It also covers some other medical services that Part A doesn't cover, such as some of the services of physical and occupational therapists, and some home health care. Fees for services provided to Medicare beneficiaries are based on the Medicare fee schedule.
Other Medicare benefits are available, but are unrelated to physical therapy services.
