Federal Government Affairs
The American Physical Therapy Association provides lobbying and advocacy services for our members at the Federal Government Level. This includes contact with the Legislative Branch (Congress and the House of Representatives) and the Executive Branch as necessary. In addition the APTA Federal Affairs staff
APTA is the ONLY physical therapy association with public policy professionals working with the government for the benefit of all physical therapists and physical therapist assistants.
The APTA is the voice of the profession in Washington DC. The APTA’s elected leadership and Federal Government affairs staff routinely interacts with national policy makers and regulators on behalf of the profession.
Federal legislation can affect PTs and PTAs in ways that significantly impact your ability to practice, including critical issues on
- Medicare
- Medicaid
- Employment
The Illinois Physical Therapy Association plays a vital role in Federal Government Affairs by serving as a conduit of information to our members and providing manpower for grassroots political issues.
