What is a PAC?
A PAC is a Political Action Committee. The purpose of a PAC is to raise funds for legislative candidates running for the state legislature and statewide office. Physical Therapy also supports a Federal PAC, that contributes to candidates running for national offices. For information on the APTA’s PT PAC, click here.
What is the IPT-PAC?
IPT-PAC (Illinois Physical Therapy Political Action Committee) is your political action committee. It raises funds for and provides financial assistance to, public officials who actively support the PT profession. When you donate to the IPT-PAC you are helping your profession to be visible in the legislative and political process. Your investment helps give the PT profession a voice in helping elect lawmakers who pass laws and regulations that affect PTs and PTAs EVERY DAY.
What are the PAC’s objectives?
The objectives of the PAC are to promote the profession and to support candidates running for the Illinois State House and Senate that are sensitive to the issues that affect your profession. A vibrant and strong PAC will help the profession counter the political influences of insurers and other health care professionals who want to control the practice of Physical Therapy.
What does the PAC do for me?
By contributing to the IPT-PAC, you can have increased ability to contact your local legislators; increased ability to be perceived as a local health care leader; increased opportunity to affect a legislator’s image of your facility and physical therapy services and increased success in shaping health care policy in Illinois.
Where does the PAC receive its funds from?
The IPT-PAC receives funds from:
1. Voluntary add on to your APTA/IPTA dues. You can donate to the Illinois PT PAC when you renew your association dues.
2. Direct contributions from individuals and practices/facilities. Individual members, non-members and practices who wish to support the mission and purpose of the IPT-PAC can make a contribution by sending a check or money order to IPT-PAC 1010 Jorie Blvd.. 3. Membership in the Lincoln Society

What is the Lincoln Society? The Lincoln Society is a level of membership that demonstrates exemplary leadership and commitment to the unified voices of physical therapists and physical therapist assistants in Illinois. The dedication and support of the Lincoln Society members plays a major part in establishing and enhancing the relationship and understanding between state elected officials and the physical therapy profession.
The IPT-PAC welcomes contributions of any amount. The follow contributions are eligible for membership in the Lincoln Society during a calendar year.
Emancipator $ 5,000 and up
Advocate $ 2,500 - $ 4,999
Defender $ 1,000 – $ 2,499
Orator $ 500 - $ 999
Rail Splitter $ 150 - $ 499
