Governance
At the Illinois Physical Therapy Association (IPTA), governance refers to the processes and systems by which the organization operates.
The authority to govern within IPTA is shared among:
- Members
- The Assembly of Representatives
- The Board of Directors
- Committees with specialized tasks, such as Finance, Ethics, and our Delegation to the APTA House of Delegates.
The IPTA is one of 51 Chapters (Components) of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA). Each state and the District of Columbia have a geographically defined Chapter of the APTA.
The IPTA is part of the APTA’s governance process, through our participation in the APTA House of Delegates. Illinois is one of the larger Chapters in the APTA House of Delegates, based on membership size.
