 ABOUT US

The mission of the Foundation for Physical Therapy is to fund and publicize physical therapy research that determines the scientific basis and value of services intended to optimize physical functioning by physical therapists, and to develop the next generation of researchers.

The Center for Excellence is a ground-breaking initiative that aims to expand the number of physical therapists investigators trained in health services/ health policy research - including the delivery, organizations, and financing of care, and analysis of outcomes.

" We are extremely pleased that we have opened the letter of intent to apply process for the Center of Excellence grant" said Foundation Board of Trustees President William G. Boissonnault, PT, DPT, DHSc, FAPTA, FAAOMPT. "The COE will provide the skills and training to a whole new generation of physical therapists who will produce research that identifies the most efficacious and effective ways to provide high quality care for our patients."

Dear Members and Friends!

IPTA has stepped up to demonstrate our dedication to research by committing to raise a total of $22,500 to help fund the Foundation for Physical Therapy's Center for Excellence in Health Services Research. Once funded, the Center for Excellence will conduct research to delineate the value of PT services for individuals and for population health. This effort is critical to the achievement of both the APTA and IPTA Vision.

While fundraising is not easy, I am really excited about the innovative and meaningful way that IPTA has developed to fund the Center - we are going to do it BRICK BY BRICK! I love when we can accomplish multiple goals through one effort and this campaign will not only help fund the Center but it will make our new IPTA home office more beautiful and more definitively our own.

The IPTA's Legacy Walk gives members and friends an opportunity to become a part of the Chapter's rich history and its future by purchasing engraved pavers that will be installed as a part of the landscape plan at the new IPTA home. Pavers of varying sizes will be sold to individuals or groups and can be engraved with a personal message with all proceeds supporting the Center for Excellence.

For me, buying a paver is an opportunity to commemorate a wonderful mentor who recently passed away. You probably can think of a person or a group that deserves such recognition - or maybe you would like to buy a brick with your own name in recognition of your IPTA membership. No matter what you end up engraving - your donation will help fund very important research.

I hope you will give serious consideration to becoming a part of this campaign. Don't miss the opportunity to help create a  beautiful outdoor area at IPTA headquarters that will make us all proud while we pave the way for the future of Physical Therapy.
