CALL FOR 2018 AWARD NOMINATIONS 

Do you know someone who should be recognized for their leadership, dedication and triumphs in physical therapy?

The IPTA gives several awards that recognize clinicians, educators, and leaders for their exceptional work in the physical therapy profession. Read more about the award categories, qualifications, and submission process for the 2018 IPTA Awards.

Nominations for awards are being accepted December 1, 2017 through January 30, 2018. Those selected by the Awards Committee and the IPTA Board of Directors will be honored during the Honors and Awards Reception on Friday, April, 13, 2018 as part of the REVITALIZE Conference & Expo that will be held at the Q Center in St. Charles, IL (April 13-14, 2018).

IPTA AWARDS & CRITERIA


Babette Sanders Leadership & Service Award 

To honor and recognize a physical therapist who has demonstrated, over time, an exceptional level of support and dedication to physical therapy through his or her support and/or roles in the national (including Sections) and/or state association.

Eligibility: Current IPTA member; for at least 5 years

Minimum Criteria: Candidate has made exceptional contribution to the association in a multitude of elected or appointed positions at the chapter or national level of the association over time.


Physical Therapist of the Year

To honor and recognize a physical therapist who, in the past year, has made significant contributions and demonstrated commitment toward the betterment of the profession in the areas of practice, public relations, legislation, education or membership.       

Eligibility: Physical Therapist, current IPTA member; for at least 3 years.

Minimum criteria: Candidate has made exceptional contribution to the association in an elected or appointed position at the district, chapter or national level of the association this past year.


Physical Therapist Assistant of the Year

To honor and recognize a physical therapist assistant who, in the past year, has made significant contributions and demonstrated commitment toward the betterment of the profession in the areas of practice, public relations, legislation, education or membership.       


Eligibility: Physical Therapist Assistant, current IPTA member; for at least 3 years.

Minimum criteria: Candidate has made exceptional contribution to the association in an elected or appointed position at the district, chapter or national level of the association this past year.


Emerging Leader

To honor and recognize a physical therapist who is developing leadership skills through participation in the association at the district, chapter or national level.

Eligibility: Current IPTA member; for at least 3 years

Minimum Criteria: Candidate has taken steps toward a leadership role in the association based on participation in district, chapter or national activities.


Clinical Educator of the Year

To honor and recognize a clinical educator of physical therapy who has who consistently demonstrated significant contributions to the quality of clinical education. 

Eligibility: Physical Therapist or Physical Therapist Assistant, current IPTA membership and IPTA membership for at least 3 years total.

Minimum Criteria: Candidate is well known by physical therapy educators for their commitment to quality clinical education and for having had active roles in advancing clinical education through clinical education related service in their home institution, in the IPTA or throughout the state of Illinois..


John Maselter Friend of Physical Therapy Award

To acknowledge and honor an individual who has substantially supported the betterment of the practice of physical therapy in Illinois.

Eligibility: Non-PT/PTA individual, or PT/PTA practicing another profession, i.e. administrator, educator, researcher, legislator, lobbyist, etc.

Minimum Criteria: Candidate is well known in Illinois for fostering quality physical therapy for the benefit of all, sharing expertise and/or communicating information on behalf of physical therapy with other health care professionals. The contribution provided by the individual may apply to clinical practice, administration, research, education or legislation as they relate to physical therapy.


Outstanding Student Awards

To acknowledge and honor outstanding physical therapy students who exhibit superior scholastic ability and potential for future professional contribution in the nation and or state association, and are nearing the completion of their respective program of study.

Eligibility: Current IPTA student member in one of the following phases of their educational program:

  1. Physical therapist assistant education program students must be enrolled in the final year of study.  Each academic institution must determine the minimum number of credit hours required for final year status.
  2. Physical therapist professional education program students, must be within 12 months of completing all requirements for graduation from entry-level program. 
Minimum Criteria: Recipients will be selected on the basis of the following criteria: 1. Superior scholastic performance 2. Past productivity/service to the state and/or national association 3. Evidence of potential contribution to physical therapy.
