Daniel M. Corcos, Ph.D
John Maselter "Friend of Physical Therapy" Award

Dnaiel M. Corcos, Ph.D is the 2015 recipient of the John Maselter "Friend of Physical Therapy" Award.
This award
acknowledges and honors an individual who is not a physical therapist but who has provided substantial support to improving the practice of physical therapy in the state of Illinois. This year the award is being presented to Daniel Corcos, PhD.

Daniel Corcos is currently a Professor of Physical Therapy faculty at Northwestern University although I have to say that I have known him for many years as he spent most of his career at the University of Illinois at Chicago before he was lured away!  Daniel's contribution to the betterment of physical therapy, according to his nominators, is really twofold.  First, he has served as an PhD advisor to many physical therapists who pursued doctoral degrees in movement science and kinesiology - at least three of them are present here today.  In addition to his direct role as a PhD advisor, Dr. Corcos has served as a research mentor for many other physical therapists in Illinois and across the country. The second significant contribution that Dr. Corcos has made to physical therapy is through his own research in movement disorders and Parkinson's disease which has been supported by many millions of dollars in research funding and has been presented around the globe.

Dr. Corcos' contribution the literature includes well over 150 articles in peer reviewed journals - at least that is where I stopped counting!!  and he has been honored many times for his teaching as well as for his research.

Please join me in congratulating Daniel M. Corcos PhD on this extremely well deserved award.
