Greetings from IPTA

OPPOSES HB4935 & SB2635 HEALTHCARE JOBS - FEE SPLITTING
Legislation promoted by the Illinois State Medical Society seeks to amend over 20 Acts that regulate medical and health care professions to legalize fee splitting between health care providers. Fee splitting has been prohibited in Illinois since 1971 and has been considered unethical by the American Medical Association since 1930.
Currently, the Illinois Physical Therapy Act contains strong anti-fee splitting language. HB4935 and SB2635 will amend the Illinois Physical Therapy Act to allow financial fee splitting between physical therapists and the physicians who refer patients to them.
This potential legislation could move Illinois into the realm of "pay to play” health care.
The Illinois Physical Therapy Association fundamentally opposes the unethical principles of this legislation, as it will only lead to increased cost of care, increased utilization, and limit access to health care.
We believe that the people of Illinois deserve affordable, high quality healthcare free of unnecessary conflict of interest and fee splitting.
Please encourage your legislator to VOTE NO on HB4935 and SB2635.
